The ǃNamiǂNûs Constituency Councillor, Suzan Ndjaleka, is imploring young people to embrace a culture of self-development amid the high youth unemployment rate.

Ndjaleka was speaking at the graduation ceremony of trainees on solar maintenance at Luderitz.

A non-profit organization, Young Africa (YA), facilitated the training, which was funded by the German Development Agency (GIZ).

YA offers innovative and high-impact solutions to youth unemployment through training.

"For you today, it is to know you are one step ahead; you are one of those lucky ones who got this opportunity in training for renewable energy, a sector that needs skilled people and there is a shortage of skilled people in the country. This is a sector and an industry that will bring lots of opportunities to you and for you, now and in the future."

The Young Africa Country Director, Olivia Namukomba, had some words of motivation for the graduates.

"The need in the ||Kharas is so high because the government is talking about implementing new projects in the region; isn't that the case with the green hydrogen? You already have the wind, so you guys really need to be skilled to be ready; otherwise, we'll import graduates from other regions to come and do this work here."

25 students benefited from the training.
