Police in the Omusati Region are investigating a case of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving, driving without a license, and driving an unroadworthy vehicle following a car accident at Oshuungu village in the wee hours of the morning.

It's alleged that a truck driver traveling from Oshikuku to Oshakati collided head-on with a black Toyota Wish traveling from the opposite direction, killing the driver of the Toyota Wish instantly.

Police are yet to identify the deceased and have requested that family members of missing persons contact the police.

All three occupants in the truck, including the driver, did not sustain any injuries.

In another incident last week, 31-year-old New Era journalist Festus Hamalwa, who was driving from Outapi, lost control of the Nissan NP vehicle he was driving, and it left the road before landing on top of its roof.

Hamalwa sustained minor injuries.

One case of drowning was also reported at Otjorute village in the Ruacana constituency after three minor children, aged seven, two, and 11 months, were left home alone by their guardian while she went to a neighbor’s house.

As there was no water in the house, the seven-year-old went to fetch water and started lighting a fire for cooking purposes.

The 11-month-old boy fell into the bucket of water and drowned.

The police investigation into all incidents continues.
