Teachers at Eldorado Secondary School in Windhoek refused to teach lessons yesterday after a fellow teacher was stabbed in the chest by a father of a learner.

The teacher was stabbed with a screwdriver after he slapped a learner who in turn called his father to deal with the elder man.

When the nbc News crew arrived at the school, teachers were in a meeting with the education inspector.

Learners, who refused to speak on camera told nbc News that they only attended the first lesson of the day.

Acting Executive Director in the Ministry of Education, Art, and Culture, Knox Otto Imbuwa, says the ministry would not take the matter lightly.

Imbuwa also says investigations will be carried out and the affected teacher will receive counseling.

The ministry will also beef up security measures at all schools, Imbuwa said.
