Education Ministry investigates incident of parent stabbing teacher at a Windhoek school

Teachers at Eldorado Secondary School in Windhoek refused to teach lessons yesterday after a fellow teacher was stabbed in the chest by a father of a learner.

The teacher was stabbed with a screwdriver after he slapped a learner who in turn called his father to deal with the elder man.

When the nbc News crew arrived at the school, teachers were in a meeting with the education inspector.

Learners, who refused to speak on camera told nbc News that they only attended the first lesson of the day.

Learners of Windhoek's Eldorado Secondary School were left in shock when a teacher was stabbed by a parent on Thursday morning.

A teacher was stabbed in the chest with a screwdriver. He was taken to the hospital and he is said to be in stable condition.

The Head of the Department at the school, Rachel Dedig told nbc News that the teacher had slapped a learner as a form of discipline on Wednesday, who then informed his father.

She said during the staff members' daily meeting on Thursday morning, the Grade 9 teacher did not attend.
