A galaxy fundraising dinner raised more than N$130,000 for the upcoming Otjinene Expo, scheduled to take place between the 24th and 30th of April. 

The expo began seven years ago with the aim to boost the local economy, provide a platform for small and medium enterprises to market their products and services, and generally enhance business opportunities, as chairperson of the Otjinene Village Council, Sylvester Kavota, explains.

"The Otjinene Expo is to enhance business activities, for the development of entrepreneurs."

Attending the dinner on behalf of the Minister of Industrialisation and Trade, Deputy Director in the Ministry Mariam Silishebo, said the expo encourages innovation among entrepreneurs.

She says if well maintained, the expo has the potential to propel it will propel small and medium enterprises and eventually drive the village's economy.

Standard Bank contributed a sum of N$50,000 to the event.

The Omaheke Regional Council supported it with N$20,000, Otjiwarongo Municipality with N$5000, NUDO N$5000, and private firm Metcalfe Beukes Attorneys also contributed N$50,000.
