Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila says the government is prepared for the imminent drought due to the poor rainfall received this rainy season.

Kuugongelwa-Amadhila said this in response to an urgent oral question posed by the official opposition leader, McHenry Venaani, who asked how prepared the government is for the impending drought.

Venaani pointed out that, based on the weather patterns seen so far, Namibia is headed for a drought.

But Kuugongelwa-Amadhila stressed that the government has and is carrying out periodic annual assessments on the situation on the ground.

She further revealed that she deliberated on the matter and further considered a vulnerability report on the situation in the country, and the government is prepared for any eventuality.
