President Hage Geingob has concluded his three-day state visit to South Africa.

The purpose of the visit was to further strengthen bilateral relations, enhance economic cooperation, explore trade and investment, and identify new areas of cooperation.

Dr. Geingob and his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa, have directed that an audit be carried out on all legal instruments of cooperation before the hosting of the meeting of the Bi-National Commission (BNC).

Namibia will host the BNC on a date yet to be announced.

In a joint communiqué, the two leaders said the state visit also paid special attention to the status of trade between the two countries and agreed that although the two countries are each other’s largest trading partners in the region, more still needs to be done for mutual benefit.

Dr. Geingob and President Ramaphosa also discussed issues of mutual interest beyond the
borders of their respective countries, including political and security concerns in eastern DRC, the Kingdoms of Eswatini and Lesotho, and Mozambique's Cabo Delgado Province.

They also expressed grave concern about the mounting civilian deaths in Sudan and called on all parties to the conflict to respect human life and avoid the destruction of livelihoods.
