Police in the Kavango East Region visited numerous schools in the region as part of Operation Genesis.

During their visit, the police educated the learners on crime prevention and the importance of self-discipline.

Kavango East Acting Regional Commander, Deputy Commissioner Eino Nambahu, says the school visiting programme is part of the police's responsibility.

The Acting Regional Commander says after the campaign he wants to see crime records reduce drastically.

The police also highlighted some criminal activities that learners should be on the lookout for.

"Then we have got the issue of dating amongst each other. It's not wrong to date, but it's also not right to have sexual relationships while dating. This can amount to rape. A 17-year-old boy dating a 14-year-old girl is rape. Yes, it is rape. That story off, we are all kids, we are all juveniles, and we all started like that. No, my brother, my sister, it's rape. Seniors, do you hear me? You are not supposed to consume alcohol, you are not supposed to smoke hubbly, you are not supposed to use it. You are not supposed to use drugs in Namibia; drugs are meant for other countries except the borders of Namibia. We don't use drugs in Namibia, meaning they are not legalised."

The school visit campaign will run until December.
