A 48-year-old resident of Kongola appeared before the Katima Mulilo Magistrate on a charge of murder.
Coster Sililo Mubita was arrested in connection with the murder of Sophia Ngoshi, whose body was found along the Kongola Katima road in February this year.
After his right to legal representation was explained to him, Mubita opted to engage the services of a private lawyer, whom he would pay out of his own pocket.
State Prosecutor Cedrick Mundia objected to the granting of bail, arguing that the charge he is facing is serious and that it would not be in the public interest.
His case was postponed to July 18 for further investigations and a formal bail application.
According to the police report, Ngoshi allegedly gave a lift to Sachona to Masida Village.
He alleges that he dropped her off alone along the T-junction to Masida before returning to Kongola.
The deceased did not reach Masida village that fateful night and her body was discovered the following day.
