The slogan "no Namibian must feel left out" will remain meaningless until something is done to assist people living in abject poverty.

A lecturer at the University of Namibia's School of Humanities, Society, and Development, Dr. Basilius Kasera, said this during the commemoration of International Day of Families in Windhoek.

The day is aimed at promoting awareness of issues relating to families and increasing knowledge of the social, economic, and demographic processes affecting families.

Kasera says that it is about time that the spirit of Ubuntu demands justice in the country, as there are families that are left behind.

The day was commemorated under the theme Demographic Trends and Families.
