Lack of accessible health care services a great concern - Venaani

Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) president McHenry Venaani says poverty, corruption, and a lack of accessible health care services in the country need urgent interventions.

He was speaking at a PDM rally in Rundu over the weekend.

Venaani stated that PDM will galvanise efforts to develop and introduce a comprehensive and effective healthcare system.

He says the party will focus on health promotion and community health, which will eventually lead to physical and mental well-being.

Namibia and India are exploring ways to address the challenges of poverty, inequality, and unemployment in both countries.

Since establishing diplomatic relations 33 years ago, the cooperation between Namibia and India has deepened, with India providing extensive support in promoting the socio-economic development of Namibia.

India has been actively involved in training Namibians in various fields, including diplomacy, information technology, healthcare, education, and agriculture.

The slogan "no Namibian must feel left out" will remain meaningless until something is done to assist people living in abject poverty.

A lecturer at the University of Namibia's School of Humanities, Society, and Development, Dr. Basilius Kasera, said this during the commemoration of International Day of Families in Windhoek.

The day is aimed at promoting awareness of issues relating to families and increasing knowledge of the social, economic, and demographic processes affecting families.
