A N$40 million budget has been allocated for the procurement of textbooks, and these funds will be transferred to the regions next month.
The Minister of Education, Arts, and Culture, Anna Nghipondoka, acknowledged the challenges associated with textbook development and expressed the ministry's recognition of these difficulties.
Minister Nghipondoka revealed that the procurement process for textbooks has already commenced in the regions and will be expedited with the urgency it deserves.
Nghipondoka strongly believes that textbooks are a critical component for learners to comprehend subject content effectively.
She stated that the ministry remains committed to achieving the learner-to-textbook ratio, allowing learners to study without hindrance.
Nghipondoka emphasised the need for the implementation of the textbook policy to ensure proper textbook management and the use of other books as reference materials.
She encouraged teachers and learners to undergo training on NotesMaster, provided by NAMCOL, to enhance their learning abilities for the benefit of Namibian children.
