The Oshakati Town Council, under the stewardship of town mayor Leonard Hango, has resolved to endorse the sale of a controversial 1.7 hectare prime land deal that has been in the courts to Mouse Properties Ninety Eight, owned by business mogul Erastus 'Chicco' Shapumba, which was sold then for N$2.5 million dollars, way beyond its market value.

The council this morning resolved to set the new price at N$5.6 million.

Hango says, however, that the deal is accompanied by stringent measures, such as the fact that the sale of the said piece of land is subjected to ministerial approval as per the Local Authority Act.

Additionally, Mouse Properties should not claim any damages, loss of investments, or related costs pertaining to the land, and the company should present the building plan of its envisioned development to the full council before approval by the town's building plan committee, amongst others.

The land will also not be rezoned for any other purposes apart from those initially presented to the council.

When approached for comment, Shapumba pleaded ignorance before referring the nbc News to his lawyers.
