The placement of first-grade learners at Windhoek is becoming a serious concern as schools have a limited number of spaces available for enrollment. The school management at Faith Primary School informed parents that it could accommodate only 55 learners.

Despite this, some parents slept on the premises, hoping to secure spots for their children in Grade 1.

Caught up in the race to find a place for his child is Abraham Moses, who questioned the placement process.

The notice stated that enrollment was supposed to start on the 24th.

However, some parents queued up at the school on the 23rd. But before he knew it, a list allegedly written by the security guards already contained over sixty parents' names.

Moses, upset with the process, said it will be difficult for him to find placement for his child if it continues like this, with no additional classrooms built over the years.

The situation appears similar across schools situated in Windhoek. With Grade Zero now integrated into public primary schools, children coming from private pre-primary schools end up not getting space.

Efforts to get a comment from the Ministry of Education were unsuccessful by the time the story went on air.
