Women in Ncamagoro Village, Kavango West Region, say there is a need for more women's empowerment gatherings.
They believe woman-centred events are inspiring, leading to an improvement in self-esteem.
These sentiments were shared when women and children came out in numbers to commemorate a belated International Women's Day in the village.
The attendees said events that celebrate women, especially those in rural areas, are a real eye-opener.
Apart from entertainment, the day was filled with inspirational talks highlighting the strides Namibian women have made over the years.
Kavango West Governor Verna Sinimbo delivered a speech on behalf of the Minister of Gender Equality.
"Recent data show that women occupy 57% of the Cabinet positions, including key portfolios such as Finance, Health, Education, Agriculture, Home Affairs, Gender, and International Relations. Women also have strong representation in the Parliament, with around 38.5% of parliamentarians being women as of 2026. Moreover, Namibian women and girls have made remarkable progress in the arenas of education and health, which are critical pillars of empowerment."
