The Nakayale Vocational Training Centre, in collaboration with the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Namcor, Petro Fund, and the Namibia Training Authority, organised a stakeholder engagement at Nakayale VTC in the Omusati Region.

The event was held under the theme "Exploring TVET's Role in Skills Development for the Oil and Gas Industry.

It aimed at offering valuable insights into the oil and gas industry and enhancing the participants' understanding of how they can position themselves to respond effectively to Namibia's talks about the discovery of oil in the country.

On the occasion, Nillian Mulemi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Fund, highlighted that this new discovery brings forth endless opportunities within the oil and gas sector for skilled Namibians.

Emphasising the importance of TVET, Mulemi stressed that it should not be taken lightly, as it provides young people with the chance to take up leadership roles in the oil and gas industry.

The oil and gas sector is expected to undergo massive expansion in the upcoming years, thereby offering numerous opportunities, particularly for TVET graduates.

As a result, the Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Fund, Nilian Mulemi, encouraged TVET students to apply for scholarships whenever the Petro Fund announced them. This would allow the students to seize these rare opportunities, gain essential skills, and become certified specialists in the country's oil and gas sector.
