The Black Diamond Boxing Academy, which consists of twenty-six amateurs and sixteen professionals, is appealing to corporates and private individuals to come on board and sponsor the academy.

The boxing stable currently trains in an open area in Windhoek's Otjomuise 3 area.

The Black Diamond Boxing Academy was founded in 2009 by Lukas Nghikembwa, who initially started grooming youngsters who took an interest in the sport.

With forty two professionals and amateur boxers now forming part of the stable, Nghikembwa struggles to make ends meet and cater for the young athletes.

They train every day in an open area located in Windhoek's Otjomuise 3 area.

As love and passion for the sport keeps him going, Nghikembwa pleaded for sponsorship.

“I love uplifting young children.  We need help in the business aspect. We are asking for corporates to sponsor us. We do not have enough gloves and we have nowhere to train. Initially we used to train at a scrap house, but it unfortunately burned down” he said.

Petrus Lazarus and Jonathan Kasheeta who are part of the stable said they love the sport despite many the challenges.

The athletes urged other boxers to join them and not choose a hopeless life on the streets.
