The Swakopmund Municipality has made progress in service delivery to all its residents.

This is evident through endeavours like allocating land for housing requirements and ensuring that the welfare of the community remains of utmost importance.

The municipality continues to explore innovative approaches to enhance the quality of life for all its residents.

More than 1300 residents of DRC Proper and DRC Wagdaar have been allocated land.

In addition, another 1300 homeowners will soon have access to water and electricity once the ownership of their donated properties is transferred.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the start of the 3rd phase, which involves the construction of 80 more houses, thus achieving the envisioned total of 150 for the Built Together Project.

Regarding the Shack Dwellers Federation, 32 houses have been finalised, and an additional 16 plots have received approval.

In May this year, the Council allocated 805 plots to the DRC residents, rendering them eligible to apply for water and electrical connections.

Only twenty residents have submitted applications so far.

The council held a meeting in May this year, during which 270 residents from Wagdaar were presented with occupation certificates.

However, active measures are being taken to guarantee that all eligible residents receive and complete their contracts.
