The spouses of National Council members underwent a week-long training in Otjiwarongo focused on protocol, etiquette, and diplomacy.

This training aimed to provide them with a better understanding of the professional responsibilities of their spouses, who also serve as regional councillors.

The role of regional councillors, who also serve as MPs, is highly demanding.

In order to provide the spouses of these parliamentarians with a comprehensive understanding of the nature of their work, they underwent training on the constitutional mandate of the National Council.

This training encompassed practical insights into the responsibilities of its members and the necessary support they require.

The Deputy Director of Information and Services at the National Council, Immanuel Kooper, also addressed the spouses of the MPs.

"I believe protocol and etiquette need everybody; everybody needs these types of skills: how to behave, how to talk, and not necessarily as the media portrays it as behaviour workshop no.; they learned about diplomacy; how to handle foreign delegations. If they get visits to their homesteads and their environments, how to treat these people is very important.

About 30 spouses of regional councillors attended the training.
