The Minister of Mines and Energy, Tom Alweendo, has warned officials in the ministry against unethical and corrupt intentions to advance personal agendas.

"Of concern are complaints of unethical behaviour among some Ministry officials, including favouritism towards friends and bribery allegations during the application process. Appropriate action will be taken against officials found guilty of misconduct, and reporting of such incidents through the newly introduced "Fraud Alert" feature on the Ministry's website is encouraged."

The government, says Alweendo, plans to enhance transparency and efficiency in mineral and petroleum licencing processes.

This includes introducing specific measures to ensure fairness and timely processing.

The minister also urges applicants to familiarise themselves with the legal requirements put in place.

Alweendo underscored the government's commitment to improving the management of the mining and petroleum sectors.

Key priorities for the government, says Alweendo, are to attract and retain investments that benefit both investors and the country.
