The Windhoek Residents Mayoral Trust has raised more than N$300,000 during a fundraising dinner.

The Windhoek Residents Mayoral Trust focuses on social progression and the Harambee Prosperity Plan, which is to serve as a beacon of hope for the community.  Through the Trust, the city has channelled resources into projects and initiatives aimed at uplifting and improving the living standards of its residents.

The trust also supports educational interventions for students, the hosting of the annual Mayoral Christmas Lunch for senior citizens, and support for the most vulnerable residents with basic needs. The Windhoiek Mayor, Joseph Uapingene, said, "The City of Windhoek Trust has achieved significant milestones, touching the lives of countless individuals and families. Yet our work is far from over. The challenges we face are complex and multifaceted, but so is our determination to overcome them. We see a city that continues to thrive, innovate, and adapt to the ever-changing landscape of our world."

The Deputy Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Natalia |Goagoses says the challenges faced by communities might be daunting, but they are not impossible to solve.

"Coming together by pooling our resources and working hand in hand, we can overcome these challenges and create a brighter future for our communities. That will be my appeal to you to support the City Council in this initiative, and as we enjoyed it, this gala dinner led us to be inspired by the incredible potential that exists when we unite in purpose."

The fund was started in 2017 and is run by the Board of Trustees.
