About N$500,000 was raised by the Namibia Fish Consumption Promotion Trust (NFCPT) towards assisting schools in the ||Kharas Region, in need of desks, chairs, cutlery, and stationery.

The donated materials were handed over to the regional education directorate at Keetmanshoop by the Namibia Fish Consumption Promotion Trust.

In 2012, the Namibia Fish Consumption Promotion Trust committed to raising funds annually to benefit selected schools in all regions.

The trust recently raised over N$500,000 for ||Kharas schools, which purchased 650 desks and 700 chairs valued at over N$400,000.

In addition, cutlery and stationery worth N$32,000 were also handed over to the education directorate for distribution.

"We hope this donation will give the children the comfort they need to concentrate on their studies. We are conscious that more must be done nationwide, where some schools lack basic furniture. Therefore, our corporate social investment initiative (CSI) places great emphasis on empowering our communities through access to quality education," said NFCPT CEO Victor Pea.

On the occasion, ||Kharas Governor, Aletha Frederick, in a speech delivered on her behalf, thanked the Namibia Fish Consumption Promotion Trust.

"Education is the cornerstone of progress and development in any society. By investing in our schools and providing them with adequate resources, we are investing in our future generations. The provision of quality education is not only a responsibility but also a collective effort that requires collaboration between various stakeholders."
