88 people from Okangwati in the Kunene Region have joined the ruling Swapo Party.

Receiving the members, Vice President Nangolo Mbumba says the party is open to everyone, where their dreams and aspirations will be fully realised.

"People are going to make fun of you. People are going to try to say you went the wrong way. Come back to us. Who are they to tell you that? You are now a member of the ruling party, Swapo. You are part of the team that is developing the country, whether it is a school, bridge, clinic, or conservancy. It is the leadership."

He said the party is uniting all people, irrespective of their race, religion, and ethnic origin.

One of the new members, Kavandara Hiwowa, said he has come to his senses, and that is the reason why he joined.

"Our parents were misled, and we followed in their footsteps. Swapo liberated this country for us to be here, and I am not wrong to join the ruling party. If I go to other parties, I can be compared to a person who is lost in the jungle."

Mbumba says the government has prioritised the provision of quality education, health care services, urban and rural electrification, housing, road infrastructure, and potable water.

Water was also improved in the Epupa constituency, and a water supply scheme was completed at Okomaremba-Ohamaremba-Okanguati.

Still in the Kunene Region, he said the Ruacana South pipeline taking water from Ruacana to Opuwo through Omakange will be completed soon.

Mbumba said the Kamanjab-Omakange-Opuwo and Omakange Ruacana roads will soon be completed, but there is a need to upgrade existing ones and set up proper bridges.
