Swapo Party gets new members

88 people from Okangwati in the Kunene Region have joined the ruling Swapo Party.

Receiving the members, Vice President Nangolo Mbumba says the party is open to everyone, where their dreams and aspirations will be fully realised.

"People are going to make fun of you. People are going to try to say you went the wrong way. Come back to us. Who are they to tell you that? You are now a member of the ruling party, Swapo. You are part of the team that is developing the country, whether it is a school, bridge, clinic, or conservancy. It is the leadership."

VP Nangolo Mbumba counted for Census

Foreign investors have been urged to approach the Namibian government if they have specific incentives they want to be considered before investing in Namibia.

This was said by the Chief Executive Officer of the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), Nangula Uaandja, at the ‘Invest in Namibia’ session at the Russia-Africa Summit in St. Petersburg.

Namibia is promoting tourism, logistics, energy, and agriculture at the 2nd Russia-Africa Summit as key sectors to attract and retain investments and partnerships.

Ovambanderu community commemorates Battle of Otjunda

The Ovambanderu community gathered in Okahandja to remember the aggressive and colonial land appropriation policies carried out by imperial German authorities during the late 1800s.

During the commemoration event, commonly referred to as the Green Flag Celebrations, Vice President Nangolo Mbumba acknowledged the late chief of the Ovambanderu, Kahimemua Nguvauva, as one of Namibia's revered heroes.

Nguvauva paid the highest sacrifice as he was executed on June 12, 1896.

Vice President visits Ombonde-Omapale water booster and underground reservoir

Vice President Nangolo Mbumba visited the Ombonde-Omapale water booster and underground reservoir located in the Ompundja Constituency of the Oshana Region.

The government constructed the multi-million-dollar water infrastructure at a cost of N$23 million in 2019.

The 2,440-cubic-metre water reservoir has significantly improved water supply to various water points in three constituencies that previously experienced low water pressure.

Vice President visits Omukwaniilwa GwaNdonga Shikongo Shakalulu gravesite

Vice President Nangolo Mbumba also laid a wreath at the grave of the late Omukwaniilwa GwaNdonga Shikongo Shakalulu at Omandongo Village in the Oshikoto Region.

Shakalulu died in 1874.

According to Mbumba, Shakalulu is widely recognised as someone who introduced Christianity to the northern region.

He was a revered warrior, a traditional leader, and a pioneer in promoting literacy among the people.

State House has dismissed claims that Vice President Nangolo Mbumba announced plans to retire without giving a specific date.

State House, in a statement, said that since the Vice President serves at the behest of the head of state as the appointing authority, it would be strange for Mbumba to announce his retirement plans at a public meeting.

The statement said Mbumba indicated to NEKA members that he would not run for any government position after his term ends in March 2025.
