People with albinism continue to face discrimination and even receive death threats.
It is against this background that there is a need to develop and implement actions and plans that protect the rights of this marginalised group.
Different albinism organisations and stakeholders from African countries are meeting in Namibia to develop a national action plan for people with albinism.
The engagement, held in conjunction with the commemoration of National Albinism Day in Namibia, aims to establish a knowledge-based and structural-based platform for discussing the development of the intended plan.
The event further seeks to raise awareness about albinism among communities, fostering understanding and empathy among both affected individuals and the wider public.
The four-day event will include visits to key government institutions, a focus on participatory consultations, facilitation of learning forums, and hosting workshops.
