Men and women in uniform in the Oshikoto Region will be deployed across the region to ensure police visibility and minimise crime incidents during the festive season.
The Oshikoto Police Regional Commander, Commissioner Teopolina Kalompo-Nashikaku, says targeted crime prevention interventions have been put in place.
'Fatality recorded in this region during the similar period was seven; serious injuries were 26, and in this particular period we want to clear them. We are promising that we want zero fatalities, zero injuries, and zero stock theft.''
There will also be various permanent and sporadic roadblocks that target unlicensed drivers, driving under the influence of alcohol, and overloading.
Commissioner Kalompo-Nashikaku says the festive season operation should serve as a deterrent to would-be criminals.
''I am therefore confident in ensuring the residents and those passing through Oshikoto region that the Namibian police and stakeholders have this time agreed to put their resources together to make sure that Oshikoto region is safe.''
