A two-year emergency food support programme targeting over three thousand households has been launched at Farm Ondera in the Guinas Constituency, Oshikoto region.

Wolfgang Fiedler, a German citizen, together with other sponsors, handed over textbooks worth N$300,000 to Okankolo Combined School in the Oshikoto Region.

The school faced a shortage of learning materials, including laboratory equipment, before the donation.

The Council of Omuthiya Constituency in the Oshikoto Region paid a motivational courtesy visit to Iipundi Secondary School to reaffirm its commitment to improving education and learner welfare in the constituency.

Oshikoto Governor Sacky Kathindi has urged residents to participate actively in the national polio vaccination campaign launched by the Ministry of Health and Social Services. 

Vice President Lucia Witbooi paid a visit to the Oniipa ELCIN rehabilitation centre in the Oshikoto Region.

The centre serves people with disabilities and those in need of rehabilitation services.

The late Diina Jacob, the mother of Namibian Broadcasting Corporation Board Chairperson Lazarus Jacobs, was buried at Olukonda in the Oshikoto Region.
The late Jacob died on 6 January, aged 87.

The late Headman of Oshikoto's Onelago Village Sam Nepando was buried at Onamutene on Saturday.
  
Nepando was fatally shot to death a week ago following a land dispute.
 

A resident of Iikokola Village in the Oshikoto Region, Sinkus Johannes made his first court appearance in the Ondangwa Magistrates' Court on charges of murder and attempted murder.

Namibian police have reported seven suicides across the country during the New Year period.

The incidents occurred between December 31 and January 4.

Residents of Oshaampula Village in the Oshikoto Region called for meaningful change after the elections to improve their living conditions.

They called for the upgrading of the Okankolo-Onkumpula road, saying the current state of the road severely affects their daily lives.
