'Let us promote a culture of non-violence'—these were the sentiments shared by ||Kharas Regional Council Chairperson Joseph Isaac while officiating at the third National Men's Conference at Keetmanshoop.
The event was organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication, and Social Welfare.
The Men's Conference themed 'Zero Male Suicide: Promoting Positive Masculinity' aims to create a safe space for men to engage on issues affecting them.
It also aims to promote positive masculinity and raise awareness to root out GBV.
The Ministry of Health indicates that 679 suicides were recorded in Namibia within a period of 17 months.
Of this number, 559 were men and 120 were women.
"Let us seek help when going through disappointments, rejection, or any other situation that we find ourselves in. I am confident that, as men, we can strive for a culture of non-violence. We will resolve conflicts with no violence."
