The Vice President has commended the unwavering commitment of healthcare professionals and the security cluster to providing essential services and maintaining law and order during the festive holidays.
Nangolo Mbumba delivered the annual Christmas Day message.
"As we celebrate Christmas, some of our fellow citizens are braving the mammoth tasks of national responsibilities. Our nurses, medical doctors, and many other health specialists are ensuring that our hospitals are open and ready to provide dependable medical services to all those who most need them. Our security cluster members, such as the Police, Defence Force, Correctional Services, and Central Intelligence Services, are on alert to ensure that all Namibians enjoy the festive season in an atmosphere of peace and harmony."
Vice President Mbumba's festive appreciations extend further to the business owners, farmers, and youth, as well as the veterans of the liberation struggle.
"Let us remember their selfless sacrifices and honour the blood that was shed for us to attain nationhood and that continues to water our freedom. Equally, I would like to wish our leaders at all levels of our society, including Members of Parliament, Cabinet Ministers and their deputies, Governors, Regional and Local Authority councillors, leaders of various political parties and formations, beloved church leaders, and our traditional leaders in all 14 regions of our country, a Merry and Happy Festive Season."
This year's Christmas Day is being observed during a time when the land where Jesus Christ was born is in the middle of a terrible war between Israel and Palestine.
Mbumba describes these events as saddening because fewer Christians will be able to visit Bethlehem this festive season.
He implored Namibians and visitors alike to pause and reflect on the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ, urging them to embody his divine work on earth by fostering peace and love for all of humanity.
"While we enjoy social and political tranquilly in Namibia, millions of our fellow human beings elsewhere are subjected to threats of war and social and political upheavals in various parts of the world. Our brothers in Palestine, particularly in Gaza, face the extreme brutality of a terrible war. We therefore join those calling for the cessation of hostilities and the silencing of guns so that the people of Palestine can enjoy peace in their own homes and land."
