Four suspected poachers were arrested on Friday after they were allegedly found camping on the Otjipaue game farm in the Kalkfeld area with dried game meat in their possession.

Unit Commander for Police Community Affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha, said in a media statement that the male suspects, aged 20, 24, 35, and 52, were charged with illegal hunting of huntable game.

The suspects were allegedly found to have slaughtered an oryx on Farm Otjipaue.

It is also suspected that they poached two zebras, a kudu, and one oryx on Farm Ondombo, all with a combined value of N$116 000 said Mbeha.

The suspected poachers allegedly used snare wires to trap the animals.

They are expected to appear in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate's Court on Monday.
