The Marketing and Corporate Communication Manager at the Namibian Qualification Authority (NQA), Lina Ndengu, urged learners to be vigilant and make sure that institutions and courses are accredited before enrolling.
Ndengu says accreditation is a crucial process, as it provides assurance to both learners and employers that the qualifications they hold or consider accepting are of a high standard and align with national quality assurance requirements.
Accreditation also promotes transparency and credibility in the education system, giving individuals and institutions the confidence to invest time and resources in pursuing valid and recognised qualifications, says Ndengu.
She says that the Namibia Qualifications Authority is the only institution in the country mandated to accredit institutions and their qualifications.
She warns that studying at an institution that is not accredited is time-wasting, as the qualifications hold no value.
She also warned those who want to study abroad to make sure that the institutions they are considering are accredited.
Struggling to get employment is one of the consequences of studying at an unaccredited institution with unaccredited qualifications.
