Three of the four victims, who died from an explosion of a hand grenade almost two weeks ago at Liselo in the Zambezi Region, were laid to rest today.
The deceased are 14-year-old Yamuno Mulatehi, nine-year-old Lydia Mulatehi, and four-year-old Mulatehi Mulatehi, all siblings.
The three children were in the presence of their father, Kashako Mulatehi, who is currently admitted to a Windhoek hospital since the explosion on January 19.
It is reported that Mulatehi tried to dismantle the grenade they had picked up around the Mpacha area along with other scrap metal they collected, meant to sell for income, when the device went off, immediately killing one of the children and leaving the rest with severe injuries.
Of the remaining two children, one died at Katima Mulilo State Hospital, while the second, who had been rushed to Windhoek together with the father, also succumbed to their injuries, leaving their father as the only surviving victim of the incident.
The three were laid to rest in the Kasheshe area on Thursday morning, while their father remains in the hospital for further medical care.
