Otjozondjupa Regional Commander Commissioner Henrich Tjiveze issued a stern warning to police officers failing to perform their duties.

He said they are tarnishing the image of the law enforcement agency.

Commissioner Tjiveze was speaking during a community meeting aimed at addressing complaints raised by Coblenz residents about the poor quality of service provided by the police.

About three weeks ago, Commissioner Tjiveze sent an investigation team to investigate a complaint about the snailpace at which police responded to a stock theft at Coblenz.

At a feedback meeting, residents say they have reported many cases that are still not attended to and suspect the police are in contact with the criminals.

A fuming Commissioner Tjiveze wagged a finger at his own members over these allegations.

Commissioner Tjiveze instructed the Coblenz police officers and those from surrounding areas to stick to the mandate.

"Everything we do must be in courtesy, and we must be helpful to our community. We are the ones who must lead the way on what needs to be done instead of sitting with the attitude and not getting the correct facts. Let's analyze the facts and let the person always understand what the purpose of what we are doing here ."

The commissioner warned that the police is well structured, and if anybody messes up in the performance of duty, internal processes will be followed.

He asked his team to obtain statements from some community members at the meeting for the purpose of investigations and provide feedback before Friday this week.
