President Hage Geingob, during his tenure as president, proved his will to empower and trust the youth with responsibility.

Among the notable beneficiaries of his good intentions was Marius Sheya, who, at the age of 29, became the country's youngest Governor to head the Kunene Region in January 2018.

President Hage Geingob's efforts at promoting the youth to decision-making positions and helping them develop that way date back way before his taking office in 2015.

Marius Sheya, who previously served as Outjo Mayor, reflects on the late President's dedication to nurturing and supporting young leaders.

"You can see his excellency started with me as a regional governor at the age of 29; in 2020, other governors were appointed who were young, like James, Neville, Irimari, and Emma, as deputy minister, so you can see elevation is taking place. And the fourth president has appointed Emma Theofelus as a full minister at the age of 27. What else can we ask for?"

Sheya expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and the trust placed in him.

The late president's decision to appoint him to leadership, he says, gave him the platform to prove himself.

Sheya is convinced that the inclusion of young leaders in decision-making processes was instrumental in bridging the generational gap and fostering a more inclusive society.
