China has acknowledged the late President Hage Geingob's leadership in promoting the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between itself and Namibia.

In 2018, China elevated bilateral relations with Namibia to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, the highest in foreign policy and anchored on the win-win principle.

Jiang Zoujun, the Special Envoy of President Xi Jinping, said China and Namibia will continue to pursue bilateral cooperation in various fields as they have over the years.

He informed President Nangolo Mbumba that China is willing to work with Namibia to deepen and push forward a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with substantive outcomes.

"China attaches great importance, and we are ready to work with Namibia to promote greater development and deliver more benefits to our two peoples. After the establishment of our bilateral ties, we have maintained traditional friendship; in recent years, our political mutual trust has been constantly consolidated, delivering fruitful results, and we have shown each other more support and main concerns."

Special Envoy Jiang also expressed condolences over the death of President Geingob, describing it as a great loss to the Namibian people and saying that the Chinese people also lost a good friend.

The Chinese high-level delegation's attendance at the state funeral services of the late President Geingob, Jiang says, is a demonstration of the importance China attaches to its ties with Namibia.
