The Okondjatu Combined School received equipment worth N$150,000 from Kaijata Kangueehi, who is a former learner of the school from the late 1970s.
It is the first time in the history of the school to receive such valuable items from an individual.
Among the donated items are two photocopy machines, a DSTV set paid for the whole year, 200 mattresses for the hotel, soccer and netball jerseys, and adjustable netball courts.
The School Board Chairperson, Mbinge Kavetuna, was optimistic that the offering from the Kaijata family would open doors for more good things to come.
Kavetuna announced that the school board has resolved to appoint Kangueehi as the patron of the school in appreciation for his gesture.
A grade nine learner advised others to work hard to produce excellent results this year as an expression of appreciation for Kangueehi.
Kangueehi says it is always rewarding to give back to the community and the Namibian child.
Okondjatu Combined School was established in 1970 and is the only school in the settlement with over a thousand learners for both primary and junior secondary levels.
