The visiting Brazilian business delegation has proposed projects that would add value to Namibian products.

The delegation led by Brazil's Ambassador Vivian San Martin met President Nangolo Mbumba at State House, marking the conclusion of its weeklong visit to Namibia.

One such project is the processing of yellow maize and the production of cooking oil and rice in Namibia.

Brazil is a major producer of yellow maize, and the delegation says processing the maize here in Namibia offers an opportunity for it to be exported to other SADC countries.

Water purification is another project that Brazilian companies are interested in.

President Mbumba says any undertaking involving value addition to products locally would be supported, as such endeavours would go a long way in helping Namibia achieve its industrialization objectives.

The delegation's weeklong visit to Namibia was an initiative by Shati's Trading, a Namibian company with established trade and business ties with Brazilian companies in agricultural products, medical equipment, and frozen foods.
