The community of Rehoboth is in mourning following the deaths of the chairperson of the Reho Falcon Sports Club, Etienne Coetzee, his two sons, and one other person in a road crash on Saturday evening.

The accident was confirmed by Hardap Police Deputy Commissioner Gesina Nell.

The 48-year-old Coetzee and his sons, Louisiana Edmando (23) and Etman Jacardo (21), as well as Greschlinn Denzeleo Bruwer (21), died in the accident between Windhoek and Rehoboth.

It is believed that they were travelling back to Rehoboth after the Wanderers vs. Reho Falcons premier league match.

The accident happened about 10 kilometres outside Rehoboth when Coetzee's car hit a cow on the road and collided with an oncoming truck.

Coetzee's car then slammed into another car travelling behind the truck.

Other passengers were seriously injured and were rushed to St. Mary's Hospital in Rehoboth for treatment.

Among the injured were Coetzee's wife and his 10-year-old son.

The drivers of the truck and the other sedan escaped the accident without any injuries.

Deputy Commissioner Nell has cautioned farmers to keep their livestock off public roads as it poses great danger and causes road accidents.
