The Namibia Council for Higher Education (NCHE) has officially launched its National Graduate Survey, targeting graduates from various institutions of higher learning.
The survey will evaluate the impact of higher education on graduates' career trajectories and employment status.
The survey will engage with and obtain feedback from graduates regarding the study programmes, study provisions, and conditions they experienced, as well as their employability and mobility post-graduation.
It will be carried out at the Institute for Open Learning, International University of Management, Namibia College of Open Learning, Namibia University of Science and Technology, and the University of Namibia.
The survey, which started on May 21st, will include graduates who completed their studies between 2019 and 2021 at NQA level 5 and above.
"I hope that this survey's findings will illuminate critical challenges and identify areas where we can better support future graduates, from ensuring access to quality resources and facilities to fostering stronger linkages between education and the evolving job market," said Alfred van Kent, the Executive Director in the Ministry of Higher Education.
The need for this survey is highlighted by concerning results from previous surveys conducted in 2021, where the employment rate of graduates in Namibia drastically declined, falling from 83% to 66%.
The survey is conducted online, and all eligible graduates from the specified years have been urged to participate.
The results are expected to provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of higher education institutions and the overall employment landscape for graduates in Namibia.
The survey will run until the 21st of August.
