"Oranjemund is ready for business." These were the words of Oranjemund Constituency Regional Councillor, Lazarus Nangolo, during the opening of the Oranjemund Town Transformation Agency's Business Information Session (OMDis).

Nangolo commended OMDis for organising the session in collaboration with the Development Bank of Namibia and the Business Intellectual Property Authority of Namibia.

The Business Open Day provides crucial business engagement platforms where established business development stakeholders such as DBN, BIPA, and SMEs can engage and network to acquire knowledge for sustainable growth and exposure for their respective organisations.

"Oranjemund was in a special area when we opened up and proclaimed this town's uniqueness in terms of tourism, renewable energies, and agriculture, and OMDis has done a lot, especially last year when some young people came to the office to ask where they could register their companies. We referred them to please go to OMDis."

Delivering the welcoming remarks on behalf of Oranjemund Mayor was councillor Leena Vaille.

"Today's event is important to the Oranjemund community, it serves not only as a networking opportunity for established businesses and SMEs but also as a catalyst for economic development and community empowerment. The exchange of knowledge, expertise, and best practices among participants will undoubtedly contribute to the validity and resilience of our local economy."

The Oranjemund Town Transformation Agency (OMDis) was established in 2019 to foster the town's economic resilience, transcending its historic reliance on mining activities.

"We all know the saying that SMEs are the backbone of any local economy, but SMEs also need a lot of assistance; they need guidance and how to grow these businesses because ultimately, these businesses must be able to provide jobs and a livelihood, and they must also become sustainable," said Aune Gideon, OMDis Business Development Manager.

DBN and BIPA, at the business session, presented some of their respective products and services.
