The Minister of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication, and Social Welfare has encouraged young people to engage in economic activities.

Doreen Sioka was speaking at a Swapo Party mini-rally at Lisikili in the Zambezi Region.

Sioka urged the youth to engage in businesses and make use of the government's initiatives.

"The government has many programmes and other opportunities that you are not using. You are quiet; make Lisikili a town; you are the ones who can make it happen; stop building in towns; come and build at the villages; put a store; put a hospital here at Lisikili; what we want is development."

She reminded eligible voters to ensure that they registered to vote.
