Basic income grants, safety homes, climate change, and land servicing were among the inputs given by civil society during a consultation with the Minister of Finance and Public Enterprise, Iipumbu Shiimi.

The consultations are regarding priorities for the 2024–2025 mid-year budget review.

The mid-year budget review is expected to be tabled in the National Assembly in October.

The Minister of Finance is expected to provide an update on the progress of the 2024–2025 budget and propose reallocations in budgeted expenditures because of changing priorities and the latest economic outlook.

Therefore, the consultations served as an opportunity for civil society to raise issues that should be prioritised.

The Director General of the National Planning Commission, Obeth Kandjoze, also gave an overview of national plans such as the NDP6, which is expected to be released by November.
