The Swapo Party's Secretary for Legal Affairs, Pohamba Shifeta, has encouraged members to elect capable and competent candidates who can deliver on promises made.
Shifeta said putting incompetent candidates into positions of authority creates challenges and mistrust between the party and the community.
Shifeta, who was speaking at a mini-rally at Malengalenga in the Zambezi Region, reminded the attendees of the government's achievements over the past 34 years.
He pointed out progress in infrastructure development compared to many other African countries, hence the need to entrust capable people to drive the development agenda.
He emphasised that the government will continue to deploy resources equitably, as it has done in the past.
Malengalenga villagers called for the upgrading of the local school to a senior secondary school.
The second assistant, Induna of Nxhiye Sub-Khuta, Eugene Ntelamo, said this will relieve parents from the financial burden of having to pay for their children's accommodation after passing Grade Nine and having to attend their senior secondary school elsewhere.
He also appealed to the Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism to intervene in the alleged mismanagement of the Dzoti Conservancy.
In response, Shifeta urged the community to demand transparency from those whom they have tasked to run the affairs of the conservancies.
Shifeta promised to share the concerns raised with the relevant authorities.
