Senior high school learners across Namibia have been exposed to a two-day Career Guidance and University Readiness Conference, which ended today (Wednesday).
The main aim of the meeting is to empower learners with guidance and tools to make confident future academic and professional choices.
This is the second edition of the NIRO Career Guidance and University Readiness Conference, following last year's inaugural meeting, which attracted over 300 learners from secondary schools in Namibia.
Numerous exhibitors, including the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NPDB), TL Entertainment, and the UNAM School of Engineering, graced the event.
NIRO Education Director Roadine Willemse says the conference aims to provide an opportunity for learners to explore their interests and make well-informed decisions.
"Sometimes we underscore the importance of preparing to be university-ready, and after higher education, tertiary education is another transition that is called you will now join the workforce. All of this transition is a pivotal moment filled with excitement and opportunities but also challenges; therefore, it is so important that we prepare ourselves for this transition in life. Career guidance plays a crucial role in helping learners explore their interests, their skills, and their aspirations."
Career options explored at the event include oil discovery and exploration, emerging markets and future skills, green hydrogen, the IT Revolution, and artificial intelligence.
Between 800 and 1,000 learners were expected at this year's career guidance and university readiness conference.
