The Namibia Volleyball Federation is gearing up for a pivotal Elective Congress on July 26th in Katima Mulilo.

This highly anticipated event will mark the end of a significant four-year term for the current leadership.

The Namibia Volleyball Federation (NVF) will host its Elective Congress on the 26th of July at Katima Mulilo, where elections for the top three executive positions-President, 1st Vice President, and 2nd Vice President-will take place.

The current leadership's term of office ends after serving the council for the past four years.

Currently holding the top three positions are Hillary Dux Imbuwa as the Federation's President, Liina Matheus as the 1st Vice President, and Tobias Mwatelulo as the 2nd Vice President.

Additionally, Marvin Katire serves as the NVF Treasurer.

In a statement, the Volleyball Federation confirmed that President Imbuwa will not seek re-election at this year's congress.

The federation acknowledged his dedicated service, noting his tenure as Acting President from 2018 to 2019 and as President from 2020 to 2024.

His leadership has been instrumental in the growth and development of volleyball in Namibia.

The current inaugural season of the MTC National Volleyball League is a testament to his and the current leadership's efforts.

With the congress a week away, the list of candidates standing for election has been confirmed.

The information provided states that Tobias Eden Mawatelulo will stand as the sole candidate for the position of President, while current First Vice President Liina Matheus stands as a candidate seeking to retain her position.

The position of Second Vice President will be contested by the current Chairperson of the Far-North Volleyball Association, Festus Amukwaya, and Julia Gideon, the former Legal Director of the Central Volleyball Association.

Since the resignation of Joseph Amakali as the Technical Director of the Federation earlier in the year, the Technical Director and Secretary General positions have been vacant.

The endorsement of new appointments will be made at congress. Among other new appointments expected are those of the Treasurer, Secretary General, Gender in Minority, and Athletes Representative.

The elective congress, slated for next week, will start at 9 am and is expected to run until 4 pm at the Katima Mulilo Youth Centre Boardroom.
