The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) held an activation of the National Symbols campaign.

Launched last year, the campaign aims to foster a sense of national pride and unity.

The reactivation event took place in Windhoek with a street march.

Learners from various schools expressed their patriotism by waving the Namibian flag and chanting "One Namibia, One Nation."

The aim of the campaign is to encourage and educate citizens to make use of the correct national symbols and observe the protocols associated with the national symbols.

Justice Minister Yvonne Dausab informed the learners about the importance of the national symbols and the crucial role they play in the nation's identity.

"As the custodian of the national symbols of the Republic of Namibia, under the National Symbols Act 17 of 2018, I am therefore honoured to speak about the importance of our national symbols. The national flag, the national coat of arms, the national seal, the presidential standard, and the national anthem. And fostering patriotism and unity among our people."

The Deputy Minister of ICT, Modestus Amutse, pointed out that the national symbols serve as a powerful reminder of the shared history, values, and aspirations of countries.

He added that the symbols are threads that bind nations and that it is crucial to uphold and celebrate these symbols as they represent the very essence of national pride and identity.

"As we embark on this campaign in the Khomas Region, let us do so with a sense of purpose, determination, and pride. This year, a year of expectations, holds the promise of progress and growth for our nation. By deepening our knowledge and appreciation of our national symbols, we are laying the foundation for a more enlightened and harmonious society."

The minister also stressed that citizens should continue to embrace their cultural heritage, as it paves the way for a brighter and more prosperous future for all.
