Being taught in overcrowded classrooms has become history for the learners of Tsumeb Primary School, thanks to the MTC Rural Schools Project.

The project built eight classrooms, a lab, and a storeroom in partnership with the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund.

The MTC Rural Schools Project was initiated in 2019 to assist the government in addressing the shortage of school infrastructure.

MTC and MVA Fund funded the construction of classrooms, a storeroom, and a lab at Tsumeb Primary School for N$3.4 million.

The school has 992 learners and did not have enough classrooms, which resulted in overcrowding.

The Minister of Education, Arts, and Culture, Anna Nghipondoka says the gesture by MTC and MVA is an investment for the future.

MTC's Chief Human Capital, Marketing, and Corporate Affairs Officer, Tim Ekandjo, called on the private and public sectors to step up.

Ekandjo suggested that all fish quota right holders should spend one percent of their income on education.

The MTC Rural Schools Project has so far built 49 classrooms.
