The Namibian Police in the Zambezi Region have reported a murder and suicide that took place in the Kazauli village, Bukalo area, after the bodies of two people were discovered on Monday.

The deceased are 36-year-old Obert Sibolile Matengu, who allegedly killed his girlfriend, 32-year-old Mulela Muwana, by stabbing her with an unknown object on her chest before he hung himself with a wire on a Mopane tree.

The lifeless bodies were discovered in the bushes by villagers who were passing by in the morning.

The police have said that while the circumstances surrounding the cause of the incidents are unknown, their next of kin have been informed.

Both bodies were transported by Nampol's forensic unit to the Katima Mulilo State Hospital Mortuary, pending a postmortem.

Police investigations continue.
