There is an urgent need to build awareness about the importance of investing in research.

Research assists in the development of any given area and improves the quality of life of the people.

These sentiments were shared at the bi-annual National Student Research Symposium in Windhoek.

Students from different institutions around Windhoek will present their research papers during the symposium.

This year's symposium has attracted 140 abstract research papers, twice the number submitted in 2022.

The fourth symposium presents a platform for students to share research findings, participate in academic discourse, and network.

The symposium further offers a platform for undergraduate and postgraduate students to contribute to thematic research areas including health, energy and mining, agriculture, and food security.

Others are the environment, water, digital technologies, green hydrogen, and indigenous knowledge.

The two-day National Student Research Symposium is held under the theme "Unveiling tomorrow's discoveries through inclusive research and innovation."
