Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah is to officially launch the Report of the Joint Namibia-Amani Africa High-Level Panel of Experts on Africa and the Reform of the Multilateral System.
The launch is taking place ahead of the United Nations Summit for the Future, which is to take place next month in New York.
The report looks into Africa’s ambition for a more effective, inclusive, and just multilateral system, that is founded not just on power but also on the principles of equity, justice, and global public goods.
Today's high-level process follows its inaugural meeting in Windhoek in July last year, including follow-up consultations with the Africa Group in New York on the sidelines of UNGA78 in September 2023, a regional consultation in Nairobi in December 2023, and the last meeting in Addis Ababa in March 2024, which has finally given way to the final stages of the conclusion of the Report of the High-Level Panel in June this year.
The meeting is attended by 56 participants, including the Permanent Representative of Namibia to the African Union Ambassador Emilia Ndinelao Mkusa, Executive Director of Amani Africa Media and Research Services and Co-Convener of the High-Level Panel Dr. Solomon Ayele Dersso, and Faten Aghad, Executive Director for Africa Future Policies Hub and Member of the High-Level Panel.
